Does anyone know if there is somekind of problem with ftp over a wirless network, because even when my interent is working fine, when I try and upload stuff via FTP its so damn slow. Also I'm using the built in FTP client in Dreamweaver. Maybe this is just shit, and I should try and use another FTP client? Or maybe my web-host is just **** shite. Either way I'm tearing my **** hair out here. Anyone else used FTP much and know any tips for using it properly and getting it to actualy work consistently? _________________ I embrace my desire to

| I don't know what FTP is, but I have a supposedly wireless internet connection and use some kind of NAT router. When using P2P file sharing programs and other things, it usually creates problems and slowness. I don't know if you have the same wireless connection though. |

| Since all routers are firewalls, make sure the neccesary ports are open. That could be a problem. |

Since you're on a mac I can't help you with softwares. I also assume that you are not using SSH. If you are, disable it in dreamweaver. (SFTP is much better btw...)
If it's "working but slow" it should be the host that has problems with too much network traffic, or your ISP is having the same issue. You could try another FTP software, but generally Dreamweaver is OK. When I do ftp transfers I just drag and drop in IE. Superb. It is generally slow tho if I connect to a normal users computer instead of a server.
PJ, you are right that all routers are firewalls but it can't be the port that's blocked because then it wouldn't work at all. |

I guess it must just be a shitty host I'm using. www.easily.co.uk is who I'm using. I wont use them again.
Whats SSH and SFTP by the way? |
