I know that many of us either fear or hate the Totalitarian leader of North Korea, but there's a saying that there's the good in all of us. Research has shown that he has some quite redeeming qualities.

I've heard that he is most notably a movie-buff. Some sources have claimed that he has a film library of over 25,000 films. He has outright denied such claims, and why he'd deny such a thing is hard to understand, but perhaps he is just being truthful (who lies about having 25,000 films?). He also had the best South Korean director and actress under the director's name kidnapped, and Kim Jong-il forced them to act under what he wishes. He is said to have directed several movies as well. One such film, whose script was "improved and built upon" (KCNA News) by Kim Jong-il, was called Diary of a Girl Student. A large theatre was also built in dedication to a film industry in North Korea.

Basketball is his most favourite sport. NBA is tracked continuously by Kim Jong-il, and Madeleine Albright ended a summit with Kim Jong-il by presenting him with an officially signed Michael Jordan basketball.

Golf is also one of his favourites. North Korean media claimed that in his first game of golf, he got several holes-in-one. He reportedly aced 5 holes and came out with a 38 under par on the same golf course. He's said to have composed 6 operas.

Despite his reputation that we are fed with as perhaps insane and having a very unpredictable nature, and the facts of the consequences brought upon North Korea (mass starvation is a huge issue in NK) by his rule, he's got qualities that don't make him an all-out monster. Yeah, he is a Totalitarian leader, and yes he is unpredictable and ruthless, but if we do our research, he may most likely be revealed as a less than fearful man. After all, all of this negative information about him stems from the current relations that the U.S. and NK (With no **** thanks to George Dubya) have, as well as with the UN (brought on with childish persuasion by the U.S.), so if G.W.B was never leader of the U.S. we might hardly hear of Kim Jong-il and he might not ever make a move that proves that he is no **** pussy.

The country IS suffering, sources other than the US and UK says so. Whatever good he has done can NEVER erase the pain and suffering the North Koreans has had to go through. Besides, most of the "good" things said about him is coming from the north korean media, which btw is completely controlled by Kim Jong-il.

I remember doing a research assignment on North Korea in high school, and some of his favorite movies were the Friday the 13th series. He probably enjoys the senseless killing and violence with predictable plots.

That is hilarious!. He has such a huge ego, he needs to make up stories to make himself look superior. The people who reported that must have been told to back him up and support the story, or they would be shot. He was either playing mini putt or he is the greatest golfer on earth.

I think a lot of these accomplishments are made up bullshit. Since he has such a big ego, he needs to make up, or overblow all these accomplishments. In reality, he is just a short ugly mentally unstable ruthless dictator, who enjoys causing suffering.

I dont quite understand what you're saying garret. He likes golf and movies and this is supposed to redeem him from some of the more brutal and ruthless things he is accused of? Hitler used to like to paint. Having a "repectable" past-time such as painting however doesnt exonerate him from his crimes.

Bad people doing "Good things" (as in activitys, sports, hobbies) does not make them good people.
