A design I made today for a ficticious melodic death metal compilation album called "winterattack" I think I'm going to print it all out and actually create the cd now. Might even go as far as making one of those fancy cardboard sleeve things cd's come in sometimes. I like it anynhow. I think the imagary suits the music - dark, mysterious and slightly evil. Anyhow here it is:



For anyone whos interested the tracklisting is:

Looks very nice, impressive. Style fits right in. Did you draw those trees?

What is the remade picture on the inside of the cover?

Wow that looks great. If I ever start a band, which I never will, I would definately pay you to design my CDs.

Thanks. I cheated with the trees, I found a brush set called "dead trees" somewhere a while ago and decided to use those. The image on the inside cover is a photo I took on a drunken/stoned night round a campfire. Because of the low light its a longer exposure, and thats why you can can kind of see 2 facees in there. The only thing I've done to it is change the levels and brightness and contrast.

I'm really happy with this design though. Usually when I make something I sit in front of it questioning whether its any good or not, but this one I havnt found myself doing that. I'm gonna maybe try and make another cd sleeve design tomorrow, but for a different genre of music. Like this one was for a metal cd, which is the music I like, but if I wanted to make a portfolio (which I'm kind of in the process of doing) then its important to show that I can design outside of my own tastes.

Do some celebrity whore pop compilation next! That would be definately out of your tastes. I like the cover, reminds me of Halloween. What's the text under the "campfire" image?

Oh and do you know of any good sources for Photoshop brushes? I only have the default ones.

Yeah, a celebrity whore pop compilation would certainly be a challange. Dont think I'd know where to start...

Cool thanks.

I would start by getting a bunch of songs from Lindsy Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc.

Then figure out a very attractive design that would actually make people buy the shit, without knowing the music inside sucks.
