I noticed an earlier post that said (essentially) I'm not religious at all.
The interesting thing about religion is that your TRUE 'religion' is whatever you devote the majority of your time to... Really! In other words, your PC can be your 'God' just as much as your Car or your fight to acquire more wealth (money) can as well.
Personally, I'm a fundamentalist Christian. (And no, that word does NOT mean I march on Crussades or hunt for Muslim's to kill - that word is actually Extremist and it has a completely different meaning.)
Fundy Christian means a person who is utterly convinced that every word that Jesus spoke was the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth and that no words had more meaning than others.
In other words, when it's writen that you cannot love God and hate your brother that's just as relevant as where it's writen that you should love God with your whole heart. The Bible isn't a smorgasborg (take what you like and leave the rest) and you can't bash people, lie and steal (etc) Monday to Saturday and then be 'holy' on Sunday before starting the whole process again on Monday - it's an all or nothing deal - just as Jesus sacrifice on the cross was.
(Not trying to hijack the thread btw - just couldn't think of a better way of answering) |

Reading the above statement I've concluded that 10101101 is my religion and that my prayers and consist of creating binary combinations to satisfy others and my holy god. I wish to help others with my skills, as well as help myself achieve greatness and absolute power. My god believes in self-accomplishment and that anyone is able to conquer as long as he has the right variables set. Or so the Bible says. And we all know that everything that's said in the C++ Bible is either true or false, so we can be certain that it is or isn't. Good thing I configured a random binary creator to satisfy my god with a random number of prayers per day. 1 or 0.
"There are 10 types of people that understand binary. Those who do and those who dont." - Bill Gates 1,3 page 37.
God debug us all. Amen.
Btw, the swedish word smörgåsbord is translated to smorgasbord in english.
(You're not hi-jacking anything.)

There is nothing wrong with Atheism. Atheism is an open-minded way of living because we are always trying to figure out the meaning of life, the beginning, and the end. Rather than attuning ourselves to what a religion specifies is the meaning of life, the beginning, and the end like fundamentally religious people, Atheists are not attuned to anything generally.
Not to say that fundamental or non-fundamental religious people are narrow-minded, but those who are dedicated to religious belief are usually fixed in a box of belief, so I am just saying. |

| Sometimes though, people seem to be fixed in the box about not believing. Still, I do agree with you garrett. |

I made a little diagram, a messy one at that, which I called, "Religion Open-mindedness comparison."
I will label each number.
1) Monotheistic (Abraham) religions: Includes Judaism, Christianity, and Islam/Muslim religions, and Bahá'í. These are extremely powerful religions. They are considered the first true organized religions, all with the same origin from Abraham.
Comparison to 2 and 3: Number 1 is very tightly fixed. Very unlikely to seek new ideals and beliefs. Close-minded nature on politics, nature, economics, and social issues, and very biased.
2) Dharmic religions: (Note: Dharmic religions all trace foundings in India, from an Indian man) Includes Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Ayyavazhi. There are a great number of definitions for the term "Dharma/Dharmic", so a definition cannot be provided.
Comparison to 1 and 3: Number 2 is similar to the Monotheistic religions, except they are tolerant of each subsiding religion moreso than Monotheism. Not all faiths in the Dharmic class have formed from the same person. Buddhism was in fact coined from Buddha, and interestingly, Buddhism is more of a philosophy and way of life, rather than a religion (it is therefore a non-theistic religion).
3) Atheism/Humanism/Other (Non-theism): Atheism is defined as the lack of belief in religious deities or in God. We will go with Strong Atheism on this one (Strong Atheism is the firm belief that there is no god(s) and Weak Atheism is non-theistic belief (more to agnosticism than atheism)). Humanism is the enlightenment of only the human race, and from no organized religion or supernatural being. Humans are seen as their own source of guidance.
Comparison to 1 and 2: Atheism is a very open-minded and broad system. In seeking truth, it stretches to many vistas of knowledge to get the ultimate answer; what the beginning of life is. Humanism is marginally less open-minded and is firm, as Atheism is, on the disbelief of a supernatural deity, and against organized religion. |
