My name is Margo and I am a 65-year-old widow. I just discovered that I have "social anxiety disorder." I always thought I was just shy, unsure of myself and antisocial. It is ironic that something that has impacted my whole life is an actual SYNDROME that can be fixed...

I did see a psychiatrist for a diagnosis and she recommended behavioral cognitive therapy. Does this work???

Welcome to the forums Margo. If you have any problems using the site don't be afraid to ask for help.

As for CBT I've never really tried it.
