I've also been diagnosed with depression but I think that's a result of dealing with the SA for most of my life.

I also have depression. Mainly its due to stress. When you have SA its also hard to find work, make friends, etc. -> which leads to depression.

Well, shy, of course, I always have been. I prize honesty above everything. To people I know very well I'm a downright nice person (so they tell me). I'm also an introvert.

Well, I'm a democratic socialist. I'm also a republican (not in the American sense, I believe Britain should be a Republic, with a democratically elected head of state, instead of those unelected sponges in Buckingham Palace... [rant]).
Other psychological funnies I have include love-shyness and mild OCD (nothing to sing about, its very very minor, almost unnoticable).
I've always been shy, but when I moved school at the age of about 10 or thereabouts I was bullied, never physically, but with names and the like. Thats what gave me my social phobia, I reckon. I haven't been diagnosed but I'm fairly sure I have SAD, I fit every aspect of it.

It's awesome that a forum like this exists. I always thought I was extremely shy before I read up on SAD. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

I was always having to make new friends again when everyone already had their friends. I was always shy to begin with. These social probs started to take peak when I was in 6th grade, and it's just been downhill ever since. I had a brother that died at the age of 18 when I wasd 9. My singleparent mom died 9/03. My dad is not there for me, because he's stubborn, puts me down etc. I have no friends, because I can't seem to open up, but I wish I did.

Two small dogs. They are cute and everything, but they are mostly pets to my parents, so-to-speak.

Tough choice, but Chrono Trigger would have to be it.

I'm a student in Physics; it's not working out. I used to be a student in Computer Engineering, needless to say that didn't work out either.

I mainly listen to music, watch movies and drink a bit too much. I try to read up a bit on science and history along the way, and I've been meaning to go to the gym or practice a martial art for ages.

Pizza; can't beat pizza.

Green and blue.

Donnie Darko; I haven't seen anything like it, it's very interesting. The Thing is by far my favorite horror/sci-fi... The setting of the movie really helps to build tension, and the great majority of the special effects used were not done in CGI, and still look pretty impressive today. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I thought was fantastic... I love when comedians play more serious roles (i.e. Jim Carrey).

Number one would be Schindler's List though... very intense, disturbing but also extremely touching. I think everyone (of age) should see that movie.

10) What's your favorite book/author?

Ice Station, by Matthew Riley. When it comes to action, I've never read anything like his Scarecrow series. It's unbelievable how awesome it is. Pick this book up if you don't believe me. It's so remininscent of Solid Snake from the video game Metal Gear Solid...

11) What kind of music do you listen to? Which artists do you like?

I listen mostly to heavy metal, so I love Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, In Flames, and various other American/Scandinavian/German bands. Recently I've been trying new genres though, like country (Johnny Cash), older rock (Led Zeppelin) and electronic, or whatever The Crystal Method is.

A character in the Metal Gear Solid video games series.

Very shy, generally melancholly but I am told I'm funny and a nice guy so I guess that's why I've been able not to lose my friends, hehe.

I'm really in a do-or-die mode to beat or start to gain ground on Social Anxiety. I'm at the point where I don't really care about anything else, including my academic career. It's definitely foolish, but I refuse to keep on being held down by the problem for the rest of my life and I will stop at nothing to get rid of it. It's preventing me from being a good person, and it's preventing me from being happy. I see it as a battle that I'm tired of fighting, but now I have no choice but to try ten times as hard to win. Unfortunately, I don't see reality as being on my side.
