Hey! I hear you. I expected people to respond quicker than they do. I've been here a year, but since no one really talks I stopped coming for a while. It's too quiet here, but I'll talk to you. Smile

WOW!! It was so nice to log on and see a reply. I am a mom just turned 40, married and live in Oregon. I have suffered from SAD as of the past 8 months or so and GAD in its extreme for about, well most of or all my life. Was taking only Klonopin for the past year-not a good idea, but I was so tired of trying all of the anti-depressants, I have side effects to EVERYTHING! I finally, after canceling 5-6 appointments went to the doc-scared to death! He put me back on the ONLY anti dep. that ever worked Zoloft. I started yesterday, so far the same begininng side effects pretty okay to deal with -headache groggy and naseua. Compared to the other side effects, I can deal with these. The doc thinks that the SAD has developed due to my anxiety and depression, it is all related I'm sure. Anyway enough about me what about you? Very Happy

Hello! Well, I'm nineteen, (soon turning twenty Very Happy) and I've had SAD almost all of my life. I was very shy in elementary school, but then as I got older it seemed like it got better. Then when I got into junior high it came back in full fury, and I had such a hard time going just to school that I had to drop out, and join an online class to finish highschool.

Now I'm also taking Zoloft, and it's amazing what a difference it makes. Almost all of my anxiety goes away. I'm actually considering taking some classes at a local college which is great! I haven't experienced any symptoms though. I do get headaches every so often, but I just thought it was due to the cold weather. (I'm from Pennsylvania.)

Do you have any suggestions to make things more active?

The only thing I can think of is linking the site from more websites, but I'm not sure which ones would be beneficial. Other than that I've got nothing. Maybe if you had a way to e-mail other posters, and remind them about this site that'd get some people back?

Just to let you both know (as we seem to be the only posters...) I won't be on here for a while. I'm going on vacation. Very Happy But I'll be back, I promise!

I'm just a recent graduate so don't have much money for advertising (yet). However once I get some money I will pay for google's adsense advertising service.

At the moment I made a special VIP room to hopefully encourage posts.

Boo! I can't get in yet. I've got to double my posts. But it's a good idea.

Hello, Elizabeth! It's great to see another poster!

Now I've gotta get packing. I wait until the last minute for everything. *eyeroll* London, here I come! Smile

Very Happy Hi Angie, Josh and Elizabeth, this is Tammie! Do ya think that if we opened the door a little wider to panic disorders and like me, GAD which led to my SAD, it would help? I understand that ads are expensive and thats another issue, but just thought I would ask??? Anyway it is really nice to have you all to chat with, I fell better already! Encouagement and empathy is very important when you have these "hurdles" to deal with in EVERYday life..BTW what is the VIP you are talking about? Talk later, Tammie

When you say GAD what sort of things are you (or others who have it) mostly anxious of?

I wouldn't be surprised if people with SA have many other things that they are anxious about.

Josh, GAD, or general anxiety disoreder, is very strange. I can not really tell you the things that make me anxious-because most every day I am just anxious. It feels like instead of blood in my veins I have electricity, always on edge. Sleeping was a big problem, all I would do is dwell on, well, everything and anything. Racing thoughts constantly, about my kids health, my parents future, even a comment I made two weeks before that I thought might have been taken wrong. You can easily see where this could lead to severe depression and SAD. The Zoloft, after 11 days now is WORKING!!!! I just noticed two nights ago I went to sleep only thinking about a few things, like most people do and should. I had grown a tolerance to the Zoloft 4 years ago, at the top dose, this time I am going to a specialist in meds, he is great, he assures me he can help me so that doesn't happen again. I hope this helps people and you understand it better, this forum is really helping me, I luv ya guys! Lots of HAPPY. Tammie

Hi Tammie! That's great! Zoloft really has changed my life a lot too. I understand the need to empathize with others who have GAD and SAD. If I hadn't found this site, and people like me I would probably still be stuck in the same place. It also helps that I have friends who are very understanding, and have stuck by my side even when I didn't want them to. Everyone needs a support system. I hope everything continues going well for you!

I think the lack of posting thing is probably the result of people signing up when they're desperate, posting their story, and disappearing once they've got some feedback. Also some people might not like the idea of thinking talking and interacting about their anxiety and depression on a daily basis... misery loves company and maybe we'd all be better off talking about something else.
