This place is new and at the moment I am having trouble competing with the bigger sites. I've set up a competition for posting, but to no avail so far. I think that the larger sites, in addition to have been established earlier, are probably run by people who have a larger budget. I'm just a 23 year old. What I need is a differentiating factor, but I can't think of one.

I've tried other ideas - like allowing people moderator priviledges if they contribute, a VIP room as incentive for people to post... but still no luck. I won't close down the site since I still get a trickle of visitors.

Worst case scenario: I could make a forum with no moderation - since that would attract lots of trolls. I know that most sites wouldn't allow such a thing since trolls tend to offend people for fun - but trolls generate activity.

Its just i go on a few forums an there will always be a few people on, but as this is new it will probably pick up.

I suppose it would be nice if there were a few regulars here. I guess I count as a semi-regular, but even I can't post here 5 days a week.

There are other forums out there but their negativity and whining really grated on me after a while, and I got into clashes with other people because they felt I was too aggressive in my rebuttals (I guess my disgust for the overly self-pitying began to show too much)

What days do you normally post? And do you have internet access everyday of the week?

I'm glad that your a semi-regular Bravetailor. All we need are few regulars to build this site up.

I have internet access every day, but not during nights (except on weekends when I visit my parents). If I have a free day, then I go on the 'net during afternoons.

I think i would come on here more regulary and become a 'regular' but theres hardly any topics to post on :/

It's a catch 22 situation. You need activity to get new users. But you need new users to get more activity.

There must be a way to get new topics easily. Maybe a "News" forum. I could just look at new news articles and dump them there. But most news isn't relavent to sa, so that idea wouldn't work.

If we started more topics, then it will get busier. Maybe if we all started a couple of topics that we find interesting that would help?
