I'm the same way, second year in college, no friends, never happy, can't be myeslf, and i feel completely lifeless but i guess i do have one thing going for me, i do have good grades. I'm trying to convince myself to go to one of the school therapist even though i don't think they can help me I do think they can refer me to a psychiatrist who can, but SA keeps me from getting the courage to go.

i never thought about a school therapist im not even sure if my school has them, ill have to look into that. I thought about talking about my problem to my roommate who has been my friend since middle school but i dont think he would understand my problem. Hes the complete opposite of me, he gets along with everyone

College is one of those times in your life where you really find out how small you are in comparison with the rest of the world and if you don't have the tools to succeed socially, you can lose tons of confidence.

I almost didn't make it through college--in fact, I dropped out of college for a few years so I could step back and re-evaluate myself (see my earlier thread).

School therapist might help, but I think what I really wanted back then was someone to be a friend. I wasn't used to finding new friends--I never had too much trouble finding friends in high school, but I guess in retrospect I never looked to find new ones once I found my "clique".

It's totally different sitting there telling your stuff to someone who gives you a clinical response, as opposed to someone who at least has your back and has some emotional investment in you.

My college had group meetings for shy people, but the mods always try to steer you towards self-deception, "tricking" yourself into thinking "positive" all the time, and I just found that laughable as a concept.

Try joining a club, or contribute for the school newspaper. By doing something constructive, you will help your confidence, and build from there.
